Spring has sprung, and I am excited! The Cherry trees are blossoming, daffodils are blooming, and my “Hot Lips” are budding. Hummingbirds love “Hot Lips”, so they will soon return as well. The trees are sprouting; the dreary brown will soon be replaced with lush greenery. As I look out my window, I see two deer nibbling on grass. We’ll see more rabbits, eagles, coyotes, frogs, and even the bear will come out now that Spring is here.
These are a few of my favorite things about Spring…
~ Spring represents new beginnings, growth, and the promise of more freedom.
~ More daylight, warmer temperatures, and vibrant colors.
~ Leaving doors and windows open and not wearing shoes.
“Hot Lips” (Salvia) is a variety of Sage and has a great scent.
~ Gorgeous delicate flowers.
~ Birds singing.
~ I love that we can walk out the door without wearing ten pounds of clothing. I’m looking forward to wearing my favorites—shorts, tanks tops or t-shirt, and flip flops. Casual, comfortable, and unrestricted.
~ Farmer’s Markets–I love the fresh fruit, vegetables, beautiful flower bouquets, eclectic art, and delicious smooth-as-silk local honey.
~ The delectable smells–Fragrant flowers, freshly cut grass, the ocean breeze, and BBQ’s.
~ I like driving with my windows down, my hair up in a French twist with wisps of hair flying everywhere, and the music blaring. Every Spring, I pull out my Bach in Brazil CD. I’m not sure why, but it’s perfect for Spring; even our kids like it.
~ Being outdoors. I love hiking in the mountains, walking on the beach, searching for sea glass, jogging alongside the ocean, climbing trees, spring skiing, and generally goofing off outside.
~ I’m looking forward to traveling during Spring Break.
~ Once Spring starts, the kids’ school year seems to fly by in the blink of an eye. There are many celebrations. We will soon have more bonding time with our kids as schedules will be no more.
For me, the best thing about Spring is that it brings the promise that my favorite season is just around the corner–Summer!
What do you love about Spring? What are you thankful for?
